Always a delight to judge this interesting retriever breed & having now 'hands-on' assessed over 150 dogs I think the breed has gained in establishing type & quality significantly in the last ten years. The numbers of 'top draw' exhibits is clearly growing which must enhance further the chances of the breed in the gundog group ring. Many thanks to my dedicated stewards Mike & Fred.

| 1st | Fletcher ASTERLILY HEKA A 7 month old dark yellow with few obvious white markings present but not to be penalised, a very sound mover who needs to grow & gain proportion, but has many basic qualities in place including strong bone & well rounded feet. Correct length of skull to muzzle, eyes well shaped, set & of pleasing colour, pleasing head. Very well constructed throughout, well sprung ribcage running well back, nicely fleshed across the loins already. Well muscled hindquarters for his age, pleasing head & tail carriage & presented in excellent condition, scores particularly in excellent angulation & good movement. BPD. |

| 1st | Strevens ERIKACHEN CONAIRE AT TOLLISTY JW A very smart & nicely maturing 17 month old dark coloured & fully coated quality youngster I have had the pleasure of judging previously & continues to alter & develop along desirable breed lines. Sturdy & upstanding, tight together, nice for size, well balanced & angulated throughout with impressive flag tail & white tip. Balanced head, well proportioned & shaped with dark eyes & intelligent expression, planes correct & ears well set & carried, refined yet masculine head. Excellent straight & well bone front, firm white feet & blending pads, well coloured to coat, good depth of brisket for his age, well sprung ribcage, correct topline, firm across the loins & in pleasing body condition. Impressive hindquarter muscling for his age, with powerful second thighs promoting strong, positive rear movement combined with accurate & purposeful front reach in a typical breed style, carrying his head, topline & flag tail well. Coat with pleasing length, density & correct texture. Most promising & a worthy RBD with a lovely nature. |
| 2nd | Wright ERIKACHEN DAITHI OF WRIGHTPAW JW Litter brother to the winner with slightly stronger bone throughout & a better, fuller coat on the day also presented in a very impressive well muscled condition. More compact than the winner though not quite so well balanced overall in my opinion. Head strongly masculine, well proportioned though I personally would not want any more strength in the skull. Presented in excellent coat, deeply darkly coloured with a lovely richness, condition, texture & lay. Good depth of brisket & spring of ribcage another very sound & true mover with some excellent breed qualities including well feathered & flagged tail. |

| 1st | Gray SEAHAVEN'S GALACTIC STORM AT WULALOWE Lovely impressive quality & coat finish on this very typical 4½ year old mature dog, surely coming to his very best. First class strong, quality bone, excellent straight, true front, splendid, tight, well rounded & padded feet. Head very well balanced, strong & masculine, though muzzle could be a bit more tapered ideally for me, soft expression, well muscled, clean neck well set into shoulders, firm well muscled, broad back & super, level topline. Excellent spring of ribcage, deep & reaching well back, firmly coupled with slight tuck-up. Nicely feathered to appropriate length, desirable white feet & small white tail tip. The most dynamic mover in the entry, powerful & flowing in profile, sound & true coming & going, presented in excellent finish & condition, a dog that should rise to the top. BD & BOB. |

A mature dog presented in first class, well muscled condition with powerful hindquarters & deep second thighs, carrying an attractive degree of feathering, pleasing coat & texture. Won his placing on the excellent forward reach & rear drive he demonstrated on the move with typical head & tail carriage. |

Excellent body proportions & carrying just the right amount of condition for her age, firm across the loins & nicely coupled. Excellent straight front & the best of tight feet, well padded, lovely bone throughout. A very feminine, typical & promising youngster & very sound on the move with good head & tail carriage. Pushed the BB hard in the challenge as she excelled her in movement but had to take BP & RBB reflecting her lack of maturity on the day however in my view she should have a glowing future in the ring. |

| 1st | Carnovale KYMIN ORANGE BLOSSOM OF RHEE I loved the soft, kind expression on this 2 year old bitch, quality, feminine head, all in balance with attractive white blaze & lovely pigmentation. Hazel eye colour, eyes well set & rims beautifully shaped, ears of correct size, high set & hanging close. The best of strong bone & well padded white feet, strong, firm across the loins, well sprung ribcage with pleasing depth of body & well coupled. An attractive breed outline standing & moving, displaying good reach & drive in profile. Typical coat lying well, tail thick at the base & well feathered. A quality, eyecatching bitch of exemplary breed type & well deserving of BB & BOS on the day. |

Really good, strong bone & firm well padded feet, deep chested with well sprung ribcage, well coupled with slight tuck-up. Very strong across the back & impressive hindquarter muscling with deep second thighs. A very sound & true mover presented in full coat & well rounded condition. |

Lovely depth of brisket & well turned stifles, body compact & well knitted together, firm & well muscled throughout. Desirable white markings on feet, tail tip & blaze, moved with impressive reach in front & rear drive for her age. A very typical example of the breed demonstrating the endurance that comes from quality lines. |
