I thoroughly enjoyed judging the Tollers on the day and what a sporting crowd they are. From a size point of view I tried to go for something which I feel was within the standard, without being too big, it was difficult to see real balance in those which are a little shorter on foreleg. General conformation is good, but from a substance point of view some of the bitches were a little finer than I think the standard requires. What really inspires me about the breed is their soundness on the move, the drive, the enthusiasm and interminable spirit. You can see just how useful the tail must be in the Tollers job of work. I wish you all well for the continued development in this country of this emerging breed.
Veteran Dog (2 entries)
1st | Burt & Ashton DECOYMANS SWEDISH DESIGN I preferred the type of the dog certainly longer than square in profile, I would prefer a shade longer length in leg. He is in super condition for 9 years He has a pleasing shape skull, without being too broad, correct ear size and set, pleasing expression and complimentary muzzle to his skull length, moderate length of neck, good bone and feet, correct shoulders, level topline, moderate hind angulation, with perpendicular rear pasterns. Moved at speed with good drive. |
2nd | Mortimore LYONHOUSE BEN STUART I preferred the head shape of my winner. I thought he had a little too much rise in forehead, could have better ear set and perhaps not the muzzle length I expected. He is a taller dog, of a large frame, with good length to height ratios, I liked his eye colour, which I thought gave a good expression, he has a moderate reach of neck, good shoulders, spring of ribs and moderate hind angulation. He used his tail well on the move and gave a creditable performance. |
Special Puppy Dog (1 entry)
1st | Stacey & Copeland NEWFANOVA ELYSIUM OF AVONWHARFE Stood alone in this class, I thought he was very mature for 10 months of age and I hope he doesn't grow any more, having said that he is perfectly balanced, has a good head, very nice expression, super ear shape and carriage, good neck, level topline, good depth of chest, when he moves he has a light springy gait, carries his tail well. He is in the peak of physical shape, with good coat texture. |
Special Junior Dog (4 entries)
1st | Edridge CAMUSMOR BRUICHLADDICH AT TILITA Another good type, wonderful head shape, moderate stop and good muzzle length, good ear set and correct pigmentation, correct straight forelegs of ideal length, level topline. Would prefer a shorter back and loin to be hypercritical. Good shoulder and upper arm angulation, well angulated hindquarters provided the power, has good muscle. Exhibits a sound trotting action with style and a great deal of ring presence. Condition and presentation A1 Best Dog and Best of Breed. |
2nd | Gibson PALUDIC YULETIME PRESENT A darker coated dog, of serviceable appearance and demeanour, smaller in frame than winner, with very nicely balanced head, strong neck, good shoulders, best of bone and feet, nicely angled pasterns, good spring of rib, definitely shorter in loin than 1, moderate angulation, not quite the topline of winner, but moved very well indeed. |
3rd | Smith CAMUSMOR GLEN SCOTIA AT DALLYVISTA Not a bad sort at all, lost out on maturity of body to 1 and 2 and looks a bit leggier at the moment, all will no doubt alter as he continues to develop. Higher over croup at the moment which probably indicates an uneven growth pattern. Moved with purpose, lots to like. |

Post Graduate Dog (8 entries)
A super class, with some good examples of the breed.
1st | Harding & Whitehill QUOYGARD THE POWER OF DREAMS A nicely balanced dog,. Very good head shape, pleasing eye and expression, good ear set and carriage, good neck, moderate width of chest, decent bone and good feet, short strong back and loin. Moderate angulation, in fact the word moderate about sums him up, without any real exaggeration anywhere. Put in a steady performance on the move. |
2nd | Hunt NAROD AROONA Another super type, marginally shorter in foreleg compared to depth of chest from withers to elbows. Pleasing head shape, good eye colour and well placed. Strong neck, good topline, a little longer in back than winner though, good bend of stifle, moves with drive, could be tighter in elbows. |
3rd | Powley DANEHAVEN MACKENZIE Third place disappeared before I could make any substantial notes, pleasing type, dark rich red in colour, with nicely rounded skull, comparable muzzle, keen expression, a shade shorter in foreleg length than winner and I think his front could be a little straighter. Level topline, movement good. |

1st | Harding & Whitehill NAROD THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM Superb type, of the correct proportions, height to body length ration very good, Very nice shaped head, equally balanced muzzle, good eye pigmentation and ear set, plenty of forechest and good width of chest, good shoulders, elbows could be tighter, good depth of brisket, short loin, good strong hindquarters, short strong hocks, well muscled, Moves with drive looks good in profile movement, uses tail well on the move. RBD. |
2nd | Van Der Hamsvoord DUT/LUX/VD ZZ REDHEAD OF GREAT PLEASURE Mature dog slightly taller than winner, but not oversized, carrying a lot of coat, very thick consistency, balanced head, can look a little stuffy in neck, probably down to coat, deep chest, well developed body, good bone and feet, very good hindquarters. A stylish mover. |
3rd | Hunt & Hempston ISAC VIKING Another really nice one, with lots to like. I thought he lacked the rear angulation compared to the winners. Good head and expression, correct height to body ratios, good bone and feet. Moved quite well. |

Veteran Bitch (3 entries)
1st | Winwood & Ward FOXDOWN ANGEL OF MELANITTA Smart bitch, overtly affectionate to her owner, good type, pleasing overall shape, good head, with good spring of rib, short loin and good bend of stifle, short hock, looks wonderful in profile movement, head carriage and use of her tail on the move A1. |
2nd | Woollerton FOXDOWN GILLIE Lighter colour, quite a nice skull shape, ear set could be better, muzzle lacks a little bit of quality, decent bone, but could be a tad straighter, has better width of chest than winner I thought though. Well presented in tip top condition. |
3rd | Mortimore FOXDOWN RUSSETT A slightly taller bitch, but I felt a little plainer head than 1 and 2, good eye and pleasing expression, she has good body proportions, good bone and tight feet, well developed ribs, could have more bend of stifle, shown in good condition. Moved quite well. |
Special Puppy Bitch (no entries)
Special Junior Bitch (5 entries)
1st | Parr KYMIN ZEST FOR PLEASURE Very feminine, nicely balanced bitch, pleasing skull shape, moderate stop, thought she was a little snipey in muzzle though, she has straight forelegs with good balance of forelegs to body depth, She has good front angulation and a level topline, well bent stifles, just has to develop in body as she matures. Moves quite well. |
2nd | Sanford PALUDIC YULETIME PRESERVE Slightly smaller and a shade shorter on leg than winner, a feminine head good eye and pigmentation, narrower in chest though, strong short back, good hind quarters, in good condition. |
3rd | Macleod & Hussey CAMUSMOR TOMINTOUL Very nice headed bitch, equally balanced skull and muzzle, good ear set, has a reachy neck, but a little longer in back, she has a short loin, white tip to tail which she uses well. Moving OK, flat coat covers well. |

Post Graduate Bitch (12 entries)
A good class with some good bitches, but I have to say a fair few that were either too tall, or too fine and or poorly constructed.
1st | Powley DANEHAVEN NANIKA Nice make and shape built on flowing lines with good conformation and good bone. She has a well balanced head. neck and topline, her underline has a littler bit too much tuck up for me, but this could improve as she matures, carrying just the right amount of weight. She has rugged hindquarters. Moves well with good driving action. |
2nd | Norris DECOYMANS PIPER MEG Very typy balanced bitch with lots to like, runs up a little in topline towards the croup at this moment in time. Good hindquarters, moves soundly, coat needs some attention. |
3rd | Lovett CANDEEBAR CHOCTAW DESIGN Feminine bitch, with soft expression, good front with plenty of width of chest, level topline, a little longish in back for me, but has a short loin, strong hindquarters, just doesn't fit all together in as balanced a picture as 1 and 2. |

Open Bitch (13 entries)
A really good class with quite a few contenders for top honours.
1st | Grigg DECOYMANS PIPER ARIADNE FOR TANMARK One I have placed highly as a youngster, a very sound able moving bitch with good forward reach, strong driving action, holding her topline well on the move. This quality gait follows her beautiful construction, coupled with her balanced head and alert expression, level topline, and correct tailset, she is well muscled which helps, strong hindquarters with really short hocks, shown in good condition. Best Bitch. |
2nd | Norris DECOYMANS PIPER PERAZZI Unfortunate to meet 1, very good type, found her expression a little staring, although has good skull shape and equally balanced muzzle, head set off on a good length of neck, good topline, well boned with a good depth of rib, good bend of stifle, in good coat, moves with drive in purposeful stride length. Reserve Best Bitch. |
3rd | Hullin NAROD THE ENCHANTING DREAM Quite nice bitch, whom I thought was a little short in foreface, compared to length of head. Good length of back, rises a little towards the croup though, she is carrying the right amount of weight, has a short strong loin, moderate bend of stifle. Moved reasonably well. |

3rd | Sanford PALUDIC YULETIME PRESERVE Medium sized bitch on a lighter frame, pleasing and balanced head, shortish neck , reasonable bone, good depth of brisket, moderate turn of stifle, short hocks. Moved well, uses her tail well. |
