Thanks to the Bath management for a lovely day, in spite of the weather; and thanks to my very efficient stewards. I was honoured to judge this delightful breed at this prestigious show.
Puppy Dog (1 entry)
1st | Mortimore TUDELEYROSE CASIMIR Very raw 8 month old puppy; moved erratically – but happy. Well-boned, with substance and in full coat. |
Junior Dog (2 entries)
1st | Westwood CAN CH LITTLERIVER'S COLONIAL BOY (IMP CAN) Compact, strong bone; clean, wedge-shaped skull; Good ear and eye set. Moved with confidence. |
2nd | La Turner HILLSCOURT BARON THEOBALD |
Post Graduate Dog (8 entries, 2 absent)
1st | Bradley CAMUSMOR KNOCKANDO Best Dog & BOS; This young man has come a long way since I last judged him; although he could do with a little more substance, which is why he lost out to the bitch for BOB, he has Breed Type, is balanced and well-muscled, which would enable him to retrieve heavy game. He moved with the typical jaunty movement; has a well-shaped head and good expression; good ears and eye set, and was handled to his best advantage. |
2nd | Gibson PALUDIC YULETIME PRESENT Another youngster I have judged before – and find very appealing. Friendly, outgoing, charming, neat and compact, kept his topline well on the move and with strong rear quarters. |
3rd | Stacey & Copeland NEWFANOVA ELYSIUM OF AVONWHARFE |
Res | Gilbert BAJAN PRINCE OF PIPERSHEATH |
VHC | Strevens AQUACADIAN FLIN THE RED |
Open Dog (4 entries)
1st | Roffey NAROD JOKER JACK Although he carried his tail slightly too curled, touching the back, he had the best movement in this class, presented a good outline, strong bone and balanced head. Good, neat, well carried ears – some having small folded ears which really does alter the expression. So sympathetically and well-handled. |
2nd | Stacey & Copeland NEWFANOVA NORDIC XANADU OF AVONWHARFE SHCM Compact – moved confidently, maintaining his topline and tail carriage round the ring. |
3rd | Mortimore LYONHOUSE BASIL |
Res | Winwood & Ward MELANITTA FAZZINATION |
Puppy Bitch (1 entry)
1st | Mortimore TUDELEYROSE LADY CECILIA Best Puppy. Alone, but a very appealing little girl. She gave her handler a hard time, but that just needs to be channelled – I like to see a bit of spirit. In full coat, good balance, fore and aft; feminine head, well-shaped, neat white markings. |
Junior Bitch (2 entries, 1 absent)
1st | Mortimore SCARLET WHITE Another alone and very erratic on the move, a little bit worried at her surroundings; but quite nicely made, reasonable angulations. Needs time and patience to bring her to her full potential. |
Post Graduate Bitch (9 entries, 2 absent)
1st | Hawkins CAMUSMOR CAOL ILA BB, BOB; A beautiful quality bitch in full bloom. In rich red coat, well marked, good wedge shaped skull, muzzle tapering to the nose; perfect ear set and almond shaped eyes; well-balanced body, laid back shoulder, deep ribs, elbows tight, front straight, tail well feathered and carried correctly; moved happily. I was pleased to send her to the big ring. |
2nd | Grigg BEAUSJOUR SEVENTH HEAVEN FOR TANMARK RBB; Quite close up to my winner. A very charming bitch and happy showgirl. Very good proportions, balanced with correct head and kind expression; powerful, jaunty movement and happily wagging tail. Pleased to award her RBB. |
3rd | Lovett CANDEEBAR CHOCTAW DESIGN |
Res | Macleod & Hussey CAMUSMOR TOMINTOUL |
VHC | Somerset RUBYRON NAUGHTY BUT NICE |
Open Bitch (9 entries, 4 absent)
Two good bitches headed this class.
1st | Macleod & Hussey NEWFANOVA JEMIMA BEAR AT CAMUSMOR I love this bitch – she is stylish, has so much going for her, but she was out of coat and not at her best and had to give way to her daughter for BB. But she still had the outline, the movement and the quality to win the class. |
2nd | Stacey & Copeland QUOYGARD DAYDREAM BELIEVER OF AVONWHARFE Many similar qualities to 1, strong boned, good angulations front and rear, moved well. |
3rd | Ede FOXDOWN FIZZ OF REDAURORA |
Res | Rogers QUOYGARD SKY |
VHC | Woollerton FOXDOWN GILLIE |
